Record number of visitors from Russia expected in Helsinki for the New Year 2.12.2011
Hotels in Helsinki are expecting to receive over 22,000 Russian tourists between Christmas and Epiphany. Altogether approximately 130,000 visitors from Russia are expected to arrive in Helsinki this holiday season.

Winners announced in Best of Helsinki 2011 competition 24.11.2011
The atmosphere at the awards gala at City Hall was boosted by the positive outlook for the tourism industry, as Helsinki looks set to post another record breaking year in 2011. The previous record for overnight stays, 3.2 million, was set last year.
Voting for the Best of Helsinki 2011 continues up to the end of October 20.10.2011
Visitors and residents have until the end of October to vote for their favourite attractions and the best tourism services on the competition website www.bestofhelsinki.fi. The competition is organised being organised for the sixth year in a row by the Helsinki City Tourist & Convention Bureau, and voting for this year’s nominees began in January. The winners will be announced on 23 November.
Helsinki Region Tourist Information at the airport attracts more visitors 12.10.2011
The number of visitors to Helsinki Region Tourist Information at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport increased by approximately eight percent during the summer season from May to September compared with the previous summer. A total of 74,700 visitors used the services at Helsinki Region Tourist Information this summer.
Helsinki Helpers serve a record number of tourists 1.9.2011
The Tourist & Convention Bureau’s Helsinki Helpers served a record number of customers this summer. Close to 132,000 tourists asked for advice, approximately 80 percent of whom were foreign visitors.
Helsinki attracts GLBT tourists 28.6.2011
This spring the Helsinki City Tourist & Convention organised a familiarisation trip to Helsinki for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) travel agents in co-operation with the Finnish Tourist Board and Hotel Kakslauttanen in Saariselkä, Lapland.
