Cafés
Did you know that Finns drink more coffee per capita than any other nation in the world? Finns consume almost 10 kilos of coffee per person each year. With cosy cafés on nearly every corner, Helsinki is indeed a paradise for coffee lovers.

Helsinki offers cafés for both traditionalists and trendsetters. Many attractive cafés are located around Senate Square and the Market Square. In summertime tables and chairs are set up outside the cafés, and sitting at these terraces is a favourite pastime and holiday activity in itself.
You can admire the views out to the sea and islands from any one of the many cafés along Helsinki’s shoreline, especially around Kaivopuisto Park.
Traditional atmosphere and table service can be enjoyed at Café Ekberg, Café Engel and Cafe Aalto inside the Academic Bookstore.
Museum cafés are also great places to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some culture. Try for example the cafés inside the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Ateneum Art Museum or Design Forum Finland.
To check your e-mails over a cup of coffee, pick one of the many internet cafés in the city centre, such as mbar (Mannerheimintie 22-24) or Netcup (Stockmann, Aleksanterinkatu 52).
The WLAN Hotspots map service is maintained by the Helsinki City Real Estate Department and lets you find wireless internet connections in cafés and other locations in the city centre.
