Helsinki to host massive conference in 2016
Helsinki won the race to host a conference on reproductive medicine in 2016. The application process was managed by Helsinki Convention & Events Bureau in cooperation with Messukeskus, Expo & Convention Centre Helsinki and other partners.
Helsinki will host the European conference of the Belgium-based European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) in the beginning of July 2016. The conference will be held at Messukeskus, Expo & Convention Centre in Helsinki and it is expected to attract more than 8 000 participants.
The four-day conference brings top researchers, experts and scholars in the field of reproductive medicine to Helsinki. An extensive exhibition and a number of side events, such as guided tours and banquets, will be arranged in connection to the conference.
– There are roughly ten thousand international conferences, of which only half a per cent are of this magnitude and the competition for them is fierce. The tourism income from this conference is worth about 15 million euros to Helsinki, which makes it a significant event for the business life, says Convention Director Ines Antti-Poika.
This year, the conference is arranged in Munich and other host cities from the last few years include the likes of London, Istanbul, Rome and Amsterdam. The conference has not been previously arranged in Finland.
