Helsinki to host two major congresses

Two international congresses representing the fields of surveying and toxicology have been confirmed to Helsinki for the years 2017 and 2019.

The annual congress of the International Federation of Surveyors, FIG Working Week, will be organised in Helsinki in 2017. The Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology voted Helsinki as the host city of their congress in 2019.

The congresses are estimated to bring a travel income of about 3.8 million euros to the city.

Surveying professionals to Messukeskus

The annual congress of the International Federation of Surveyors, FIG Working Week, will be organised in Helsinki in 2017.

Finland beat its competitors Vietnam and Nepal with an overwhelming majority of the votes. About one thousand surveying professionals from all over the world is expected to attend the event that takes place in Messukeskus in May-June.

Helsinki Convention & Events Bureau was responsible of the bidding process together with the FIG Finnish members - the Finnish Association of Geodetic and Land Surveyors and the Finnish Association of Surveyors – along with the FIG associate member National Land Survey of Finland and the host venue Messukeskus.

European toxicologists to Finlandia Hall

Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology voted Helsinki as the host city of their congress in 2019.

Helsinki won the competition against Copenhagen. More than one thousand toxicologists from all over Europe are expected to attend this five-day congress at Finlandia Hall in September.

The bidding process was run by Helsinki Convention & Events Bureau with the Finnish Society of Toxicology and Finlandia Hall. The bid was supported by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA)
