University of Helsinki among 100 best

The University of Helsinki has once again been ranked among the hundred best universities in the world according to the 2014 Academic Ranking of World Universities.

University of Helsinki ranks 73 on Shanghai list

The so-called Shanghai list is published by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

“Our ranking has improved thanks to our recent research performance. In particular, we produce an impressive number of international scientific papers. The Shanghai list is based specifically on research and not on image factors,” says Markus Laitinen, Head of International Affairs at the University of Helsinki.

Among the top Nordic universities, the University of Helsinki was ranked fifth.

Four other Finnish universities were ranked among the best 500 universities on the list. The Universities of Oulu and Turku were jointly ranked 301–400, while Aalto University and the University of Eastern Finland were ranked 401–500.

Harvard University was ranked number one in the world.
