Design District Helsinki is a cluster of creative businesses that is full of fascinating attractions for fans of design.
Situated in the heart of Helsinki
The Design District is a local initiative that began in 2005 with the idea of bringing together all the creative businesses in the neighbourhood. Today its comprises 25 streets and 200 spots on a map, including jewellery makers, design and antique shops, fashion stores, museums, art galleries, restaurants, hotels and showrooms.
The symbolic centre of the Design district is Dianapuisto Park. From here the Design District stretches into the districts of Kaartinkaupunki, Kamppi, Punavuori and Ullanlinna.
Many ways to explore the Design District
The Design District attracts visitors throughout the year. You can easily spend an entire day strolling around the neighbourhood and visiting all the fashion, interior design and jewellery shops that offer unique creations by young local designers, as well as established Finnish design brands.
An easy way to discover the Design District is on a guided walking tour with an expert guide. Join for example the Design Walk tours introducing the Design District area with its small design boutiques and well-known design brands. The weekly tours are organised every Friday from 3pm throughout the whole year.
If you prefer to explore the design spots on your own, make use of the Design District walking route maps. The routes have been tailored according to six different tastes: New Living Room, Sustainable design shopping and local food, Classic are forever, Diamonds and other fancy things, Creative Sunday and Manly shopping tour.
