Adventure in Suomenlinna

Suomenlinna is a fascinating destination for the whole family to explore: 6 kilometres of wall, over 100 cannons, exciting tunnels, museums, cafés and restaurants.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Suomenlinna is one of the most popular attractions in Finland for a reason. The fortress is accessed by ferry from the Helsinki Market Square. The ferry service runs throughout the year, and the trip across the sea is a small adventure itself. How many islands can you spot along the way?

From May to September you can also travel to the fortress by waterbus. In addition to Suomenlinna, you can access the islands of Lonna and Vallisaari with the same ticket.

Suomenlinna Museum Day 6 June

On Gustav’s Day on 6 June, Suomenlinna will be celebrating a Museum Day. On that day there will be free entry to all six of Suomenlinna’s museums.

Guided tours and sailings

The fortress is brought to life on a guided walking tour, which is arranged until 31 May in English on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 1.30 pm. In June–August, guided tours are arranged in five languages: Finnish, Swedish, English, Russian and Chinese.

Cannon sloop Diana offers public sailings and family sailings in summertime on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 28th June - 5th August and Saturdays, 12th, 19th and 26th August.

Atmospheric cafés and restaurants

On your visit it’s worth taking the time to have lunch or a snack in one of Suomenlinna’s many restaurants and cafes. Please remember to check the exact opening hours of restaurants and cafes before your visit!
