The Tourist & Convention Bureau provides information about the region's travel services and markets Helsinki as a tourist and congress destination. Our goal is to promote the development of the travel industry and to strengthen the appeal of our city.

We monitor the development of travel in Helsinki through statistics and research. In addition, we represent Helsinki in various working groups and organisations within the travel trade in Finland and internationally.

Marketing Unit

The Marketing Unit markets Helsinki as a travel destination and develops travel services with local businesses. It also represents Helsinki at international travel fairs and organises familiarisation tours for travel organisers and media representatives.

Convention Unit

The Convention Unit markets Helsinki as a meeting, convention and incentive destination in co-operation with the travel trade and related organisations. It also provides planning and marketing assistance to event organisers.

Communications

The Communications Unit produces brochures and other marketing and information material about Helsinki. It also maintains Helsinki’s official tourism website and image bank.

Katrilena Eklöf appointed Tourist Director

Katrilena Eklöf has been appointed Tourist Director of the City of Helsinki as of 1 June 2010.

Since 2008 Ms Eklöf has served as director responsible for the tourism sector at Invest in Finland, before which she worked as Managing Director of the Norwegian-British and Finnish-British chambers of commerce, as well as Administrative Director for Finnair Group in London.

Katrilena Eklöf has a university degree in economics from Germany.

A total of 79 persons applied for the job of Tourist Director at the Helsinki City Tourist & Convention Bureau.
